You’re The Apple of My Eye

I ask myself one question every autumn and that is “Is it really autumn yet if I haven’t gone apple picking?” I am not one of these people who gets hype over pumpkin spice lattes or the cooler weather, but give me an apple orchid and that all changes.

Every year, I head upstate to Maskers Orchids and pick a huge bag of apples! Since I love to cook, I pick up enough to make apple pie, pork with apples, and apple jam. This season, the roads were a little muddy but the apples were plentiful. I threw on my Faux Suede Rebel Wilson Trench jacket and got to picking!

This cozy orchid is filled with rows of different apple trees. You are allowed to eat all you want while you pick. I come with my appetite every season and of course a bottle of water for rinsing the apples. If you’ve never had an apple, fresh from the tree, sans the wax, you are certainly missing out. The juicy, sweet, flavorful selection is a reason New York is known as the big apple and why the apple is the fruit of New York!

Why You Gotta Be So Cold Shoulder Stripped Top

If you live in the city, you know how important it is to get away every now and then. This little yearly escape from the noise, and pollution, and bustle of the city is just what I need to refresh my soul every season.

The sound of silence, he wind through the grass, the fresh air and the panoramic views of the Catskills mountains, always capture me in a way that nothing else can. I have driven all over the country, have seen have the entire United States, but there is still something special about being rich here.

I normally am not very festive but for this trip, I decided to have apple themed nails done at GlossLab using Emilie Heathe, warm tan skin thanks to Coola, and a fresh green shadow and bright red lips from Profusion.

Lastly, I treated myself to an apple cider donut and let my diet go to the side for a week. If you’ve never had an apple cider donut, it is a must! It has a subtle apple sweet flavor and is covered in a sprinkling of sugar and cinnamon.

What are some of your autumn traditions? Do you apple pick, pumpkin pick, or stay at home with some warm apple cider? Do you  grab a pumpkin spice latte? Or are you just waiting for the holiday season! I’d love to know what your favorite places to visit this fall season!

The NARS Palette You Need This Holiday Season!!

It’s Heartbreaking

Whether you are a long time fan of the NARS brand or are just discovering it, there is no denying that, the cheek shade Orgasm, has that something, something. With its long time cult following and a mile long reputation for being the ultimate, wearable blush for all skin tones, it really isn’t much of a shock that it was included in the Heartbreaker Palette.

nars editied 2

It’s Orgasmic

I think what makes this palette stand out, however, is its textured packaging. Usually, NARS is an understated brand. The products talk for themselves without all the glitz and the glam. This isn’t to say that there haven’t been capsule collections featuring unique packaging, but all in all, NARS isn’t all that flashy. Its subtle sophistication and high quality is what draws you in. For the holiday season, NARS decided to get all dolled up, and a little edgy with this textured, spiky, red packaging that houses three cheek shades Luster (sheer golden apricot), Orgasm (peachy pink w/ golden shimmer) and Amore  (matte rose pink).

It’s Amore

This palette is 42$ (66$ value) and exclusive to Ulta. These applied flawlessly, easy to build up and blend out. They didn’t accentuate pores or fine lines. I liked that this palette has different finishes – sheer, shimmer, and matte. They lasted about 8 hours before I saw any fading and were lightweight on the skin.

So if you guessed that the title of this entry is a nod to the 90’s one hit wonder, Lou Bega, you’d be correct! I can’t entirely explain why I was compelled to reference him, but maybe its because Soncy makes me feel just a little sexier, a little more confident, and with all the sass of a Lou Bega lady.

Soncy is the new kid on the block of the plus size fashion industry and they’ve hit the ground running! This trendy, inclusive, comfortable, and wearable brand helps to fill the gap that most retailers don’t even think exists. When shopping, I tend to notice my options are either grandma or “can you see my whooha if I bend over?” Sometimes, a girl just wants to be sexy, classy, and edgy without all the coverup or loss of fabric.

Dusty Roads Ahead Tie Waist Jacket

While many brands tend to start their lines at 1x/14/16 and end at 3x/22/24, Soncy is a bit more inclusive. This line is available in sizes 10-30, so it covers even the in-betweeners! You’re not quite plus size, but you can’t exactly size up from other brands, Soncy has you covered.

Soncy allows you to express your personal style and chose options that really flatter your body. There are choices for apples, pears, hourglass, and even rectangle. While most plus brands focus on the bootylicious customer only, Soncy caters to all. I am an apple shape, and I have fallen head over heels with these options!

Another perk, like Sephora and other brands, Soncy offers a VIB option. While you do have to buy into it, its 40$ a year, gives you free shipping and returns, and up to 30% off of everything! This can be combined wth sales and other promotions as well, so it helps you to achieve maxim discount! I opted in as soon as I discovered the brand, and I’ve saved hundreds in just two orders!

Shoe Shopping is Finally For Everyone with Customized Shoes from Shoes of Prey

Shoe shopping! Nearly every girl can imagine the first time she walked into the wonderland that is the shoe store. Tugging at her mothers arm, trying on new pairs, checking to see how much her foot had grown since the last time. These are the memories that my mind congers up as i think back to my early days of carefree ,shoe shopping, that is, before the wool was pulled over my eyes and I discovered something rather grim. The shoe store doesnt exactly cater to all ladies.

They say act your age not your shoe size! Well, by the time I was 11 years old, I was a size 11! While my friends pranced around in cute little shoes- I had to wear the kind you would see on a middle aged woman heading to the office in a beige suit. It was disheartening to say the least. Options didn’t improve as i aged. Shopping became a chore. I was isolated to the end of shoe isles where all sense of style goes to die. More often than not, I would shove my feet, painfully, into shoes a size or two, too small and wear them until my feet bleed. The stuggle was certainly real. After years of suffering, I have finally found a shoe store that caters to me!

Shoes of Prey is an online shoe store that has sizes 2-15 with width from narrow to extra wide. Not only do they have shoes for everyone, you can design your own shoes. Heel, boot, flat, sole, trim, leather, satin, lace! You name it, they have it! It is a shoe lovers dream!

I am a size 11 extra wide width and I had the oppertunity to work with this amazing brand and try their service. I loved being able to design my own shoes. My sense of style is somewhat out of the box and slightly wild. I am, what i like to call, early Cindy Lauper meets modern chic. I am a whild child and i love to make a statment! Even if i didn’t hace issues with size, I’ve always had some issues when it came to stye. So many designs felt boreing, mundane, repetatve. I loved being able to create something uniquly me! If you’re in a rush, you can also shop pre-designed shoes.

When you first navagate the website, you will be asked to take a quiz. This quiz is designed to help you and guide you to the right fit. You are then able to choose a template for your shoe and begin the customization! I created two shoes with very different deisgns.

The first pair i created are Savoca 114 . I was so excited when i was creating these! For some, they may appear flashy or gaudy, but for me, they are perfect. I love a bit of flash and I the design elements of the 80’s. Lots of details, lots of wow factor, lots of flash. These shoes contain pink silk, black lace, a black glitter heel, black soles, white paten leather bow with black patten leather cetner. I also opted to design these with a soft powder blue lining. These are perfect to pair with a little black dress and nothing more! These shoes steal the show.

My second pair, I aimed for a more editoral fall look. These are hunter green leather ballerina flats with yellow snake skin accents! They mix feminen deisgn with edgy textile. They will be perfect for fall and match well with brown, rust, beige, mustard, white, and of course black. I would eve wear these on a casual day with jeans.

If youre looking for something in just your size with a unique flair you absolutly have to check out http://www.ShoesOfPrey.com

I recieved these shoes complimentry, all opinons are 100% my own.

Labor Day Fashion: Rebel Against The All White Trend

Labor Day Blues

Fashion rules are silly! I have always said that it is best to wear what makes you feel the most confident, after all, nothing is sexier than confidence. While I have primarily always chosen to focus on the plight of the plus size woman, I can’t help but consider the general fashion rules for all.

Have you ever wondered, where do these rules come from? Don’t pair black and navy. No socks with sandals. Don’t mix prints (I love to break this one!). No white after Labor Day. I may not have all the answers but I can give you the break down about Labor Day whites and why they give me the blues.

Once upon a time…

rules 2

I make the rules

During the late 19th and into the early 20th century, the rich and elite, decided to express their status in a way they still use today, fashion. The Civil War prompted many changes in the way society interacted not only with race but also with class. The upper class opted to set themselves apart with specific fashion rules. One of the major rules that came to be was that white would only be acceptable for summer. At first, I wanted to be outraged by how outlandish this seemed, until, I realized it makes perfect sense. Scientifically, white does not absorb any light, therefore, this shade will keep you much cooler than if you were wearing a darker shade (Black, for example, absorbs all light and will make you feel hotter when standing in the sun). As logical and as lovely as this all sounds, one major class of individuals would be excluded .

science bitch

The industrial revolution was in full force until around 1840. This just about coincides with the beginning of the Civil war (1861) as slaves were used in a major way to drive industry; this was especially true in southern states. Once the Civil War and Industrial Revolution came to an end, there were still a great many people employed in factories, fields, and other dirty work. The working class would most likely not have the privilege of wearing white, as it would become dirty rather quickly. An upper class individual wouldn’t have such a worry and thus this, mainly unspoken, fashion rule was a way of distinguishing the classes.

Considering that many of the more fashion forward capitals in the United States are Northern, like New York, after the first week of September temperatures tend to cool. This means that one can wear a darker shade of clothing without getting swamp ass. Lets be honest, no one wants swamp ass. Its just logical.

The Villain Emerges

The actual holiday of Labor Day was created to celebrate the working class and it became a federal holiday in 1894. If you’re a sucker for numbers you’ll begin to see a timeline emerging. At the end of the 19th century, the United States entered a period of stability and property. The unspoken fashion rule among the elites had now trickled down to the working class.

This header is a bit dramatic, but non the less, in a somewhat ironic twist, the upper class, who primarily had never really favored the working class or the labor movement, devised a way to turn the lower class celebration into an unofficial end of summer holiday. Summer does not officially end until around September 22nd so rules.jpgthis was highly a symbolic celebration rather than a literal. The end of the summer social season meant that only those in the know, knew to wear white on it and not to wear white after it. In working class social circles it also became a faux pas to wear white after this holiday in an effort to appear more sophisticated. Many were unaware as to why this was a rule but followed it regardless as to not seem ignorant. This trend continued into the 1950’s/1960’s at which point white and pastel themed resort wear was the du jour style until that first Monday in September.

At What Point Do We Break The Rules?

For many, white doesn’t reappear in the wardrobe until mid winter. At this point it has lost its sigma and can easily be reintroduced without judgment or scrutiny. As for modern fashion, this rule is still a staple and has transcended into end of summer all white parities, which for the most part, are thrown by the upper middle class and upper class. While there is nothing inherently wrong with wearing white or enjoying a fabulous party, we must consider that this rule was originally instated as a silent diversion of the working class holiday.  Anytime you follow the “no white after Labor Day” rule, you are a part of it. So I say break the rules! Wear what makes you feel comfortable, confident, and beautiful- whether its white before, on, or after Labor Day!

My Labor Day outfit consisted of an American flag motif as I payed homage to the working class and all that the holiday stands for, and yes this included incorporating a little white!

I paired @rebelwilson @rebelwilson#TeamRebel The Pin Up mid rise ultra skinny jeans with a @rainbowshops red peplum style top, @forever21plus cropped blue stripe blazer and @torridfashion tan wedges. Should You Pony Up for the New My Little Pony Makeup Collection by Pür Cosmetics?

Not A One Trick Pony

IMG_2290If there is one thing that I can guarantee, it would be that by the end of this entry you will have learned nearly every possible horse and pony pun. I promise its not all horsing around though! After the success of their Trolls Movie collection, Pür Cosmetics has released another new line inspired by an 80’s/90’s beloved toy franchise. My Little Pony, yes, those adorable and colorful plastic pony toys from your childhood, have inspired a new makeup collection. So saddle up, hold on to the reins, and get ready to explore the rainbow that is My Little Pony.

As an avid fan of bright and bold shades, I was quite excited to see that this collection was just a bit bolder in comparison to the Trolls Movie Collection, which I had missed out on. The My Little Pony collection features brushes + makeup bag, glosses, a palette, and glow sticks, however, I opted to only purchase about half the collection. I can’t recall why, at the time, but I decided to skip on the rainbow themed, brushes, makeup bag, and most of the glosses. I want to believe that these brushes are no one trick pony as every Pür Cosmetics brush I’ve ever owned has out performed their more expensive sisters. I believe I was simply was more interested in the actual cosmetics than the tools this time around.

A Horse Of A Different Color

There was certainly no foal-ing around when it came to the shade selection of the My Little Pony: The Movie Collection Eyeshadow Palette. These shades absolutely embody the imagery, the soul, and the overall brightness that is My Little Pony. This palette contains 16 shades and is slightly bigger than the size of a hand. While the outer packaging of the palette is quite bold, the palette itself is a simplistic white with a holographic logo on the cover. This palette lets its shades be bold rather than just the packaging.

The mix of matte, satin, and shimmer shadows is refreshingly beautiful and would stand out among any collection of naturals or nudes. This palette, unlike the Trolls palette, features brighter summer/spring shades. Little Pony’s don’t abide by the seasonal rules and neither should you!  The shades were soft and smooth to work with but there was a bit of fallout.  The purple  shade (Magic) was a bit under pigmented – but blended amazingly, as did all the shades. These were very easy to layer, build up or sheer out. Even the bolder shades like Pinkie Pie and Tempest Shadow were easy to work with. There are enough softer shades to balance out the bolder shades so that you can create a softer look or a full on stand-out look. I prefer to apply the matte shades with a fluffy brush and the satin/shimmer shades with a denser brush. To make these shades more intense I used my finger or applied them wet. These swatches are sans primer but a primer would intensify them. I prefer to layer shades as a way of priming and reach for Generosity as my all over the lid shade before starting any look. I achieved about 5-10 hours depending, the lighter shades faded much quicker while the bolder shades lasted much longer. Primer will also elongate the wear. None of these shades creased.

Straight From The Horses Mouth

As for the glosses, there are many more in the set than shown here. I, however, decided that two was my limit. I tend to trot toward the drier variety of lip products, often coating my lips in matte shades that won’t budge until a nuclear bomb drops or I decide to eat the greasiest Big Mac. Gloss just doesn’t have the type of commitment I’m looking for, so I usually swipe left.

The My Little Pony: The Movie Glitter Lip Gloss Topper’s were just as glossy as a show pony’s mane. The concept of a more subtle lip when paired with such a bright shadow palette was well planned. It is always ideal to play up either your eyes or your lips, usually not both. When wearing these on their own I was reminded of the texture of a liquid lipstick. These certainly did not feel like just a topper. You can, of course, add a bit of sparkle and shine to any lipstick with these toppers. I swatched these sans base. The formula wasn’t too thin or too slick. It clung to the lips nicely without feeling sticky or tacky. They do transfer and you will only get about 2-3 hours wear with them, less if you’re eating. They have such beautiful shift that adds dimension to the lip, plus, the shimmer doesn’t feel grainy or noticeable during wear. Based on the quality and versatilely, I believe these are absolutely worth adding to your collection. It is also worth noting that no bleeding occurred, however, there was a bit of light feathering, and minimal settling into the fine lines of the lips.

A Pony Tale

No look is complete without completely glowing to the lords. Even if you don’t share my affinity for an absolutely blinding highlight, you care surely appreciate the glow and shift of the My Little Pony: The Movie Magic of Friendship 3-Piece All-in-One Glow Stick Kit. Holographic clothing may be a passing fad, for a second time, but bright eyes will never go out of style. These holographic, shade shifting, glow sticks can be used

the highlight horse

Señor Highlight Horse

in anyway your heart desires, seriously! As I was playing around with this products I realized that these had more glow than the highlight horse, and will have you swooning. These make the perfect inner corner or brow bone highlight. They work to prime the eye for shimmery shades. You can even use these on the lips to add a holographic touch to any lipstick. While they are a bit stiff for cheek wear, you can make them work by applying short strokes on the cheek and blending with a brush. You will have a truly 90s holographic glow!

Shades featured: – Cheerful (Iridescent Pink with Gold Shift) – Blissful (Holographic Iridescent Blue with Pink Shift) – Joyful (Iridescent White with Blue Lavender Shift
I didn’t find these to crease and I got about 6-8 hours of wear.

Hot to Trot

I have created a bold, cool toned, eye look paired with glowing cheeks and glossy lips. This look embodies this collection in a wearable way. If you would like to see more looks, please be sure to follow me on instagram.

Moschino x Sephora – This is Not A Toy

Its A Bear of A Collection

When Sephora announced its collaboration with Moschino, the ever creative brand that has featured windex style perfume bottles and McDonalds inspired fashions, I rejoiced! Its aways such a pleasure when fashion brands cross the fine line into beauty since it Screen Shot 2017-09-03 at 10.58.53 PMusually translates to unique packaging, interesting shade combinations, and above all, collectable, limited edition items. This collection has proved no different and it sold out in record timing. Almost instantly after being released ]the Moschino x Sephora collection was gone. Many even had their orders canceled by Sephora; this is very much unlike the brand. It is currently being peddled on ebay for shocking amounts.

While you may no longer be able to get your hands on this adorable little collection, we can only hope that the makeup gods have it in their favor for a restock. I purchased my items about 3am the day it released. I opted to only pick up the items that spoke to me and skipped on the fragrance and the eye mask. Each golden bear product is 24K platted for an extra touch of luxury, even if it feels like cheap plastic.

This Is Not A Moschino Toy

The pièce de résistance of this collection is absolutely the Moschino Bear Eyeshadow Palette. it is shaped like a small bear toy that was touched by Midas and filled with makeup. On the tummy it says “This Is Not A Moschino Toy”, which is a cheeky reference to objects that look like toys but are not. This palette, as mentioned above, is plated in 24k gold, however, do not expect it to have a heavy or even sturdy feeling. This palette is quite cheep in terms of weight and feels more like cheap plastic that was painted gold. Honestly, I felt it was a waste of gold, Midas must have truly been bored that day.

Screen Shot 2017-09-03 at 10.59.07 PM.png

To open this palette you must lift the top by slipping your finger into a little indent; it is not magnetic. Once you open and lift the bear facade you will see an eclectic mix of shadows in various finishes. The top shades are warm in tone while the bottom shades are cooler. There is a nice mix of satin and metallic finishes and these all applied smooth as butter. Most were pigmented enough to be worn without primer, which is exactly how I watched them.

Screen Shot 2017-09-03 at 10.59.19 PM.png

I preferred a more dense brush for the metallic shades and a fluffier brush for the mattes. For the most pigment- use your finger or apply moist. They are easy to build up or sheer out. Can be applied moist or dry. Do not crease and last up to 8 hours without fading . I was highly impressed with these shadows overall and there are enough basics to balance out the more bolder jewel tones. If you’re not a fan of the packaging and prefer a more traditional set up- the shadow base does pop out and these seem like they would be easy to Depot.

Midas Had A Lot Of Free Time

Screen Shot 2017-09-03 at 10.59.29 PM.png

Moschino proves that it is truly possible to fuse fashion and beauty with the Moschino Bear Lip Gloss Chain. This set features 6 mini lip glosses and a Moschino Chain necklace that you can actually wear. The bear can carry one gloss, so it is fashionable and functional. While I wouldn’t wear this accessory, I could see it working well on those that favor this style or appreciate a novel concept. The names of the glosses represent cities that have significance to Moschino.

While the shades were beautiful in the tube, not much else can be said for these shades. Only half of them performed at the level I would expect from either

Screen Shot 2017-09-03 at 10.59.40 PM.pngbrand. The glosses aren’t sticky and don’t bleed but they do have quite a few flaws. The lighter shades (Malibu and Paris Pink) are quite milky and settle into fine lines. Soho is a bit patchy and you will certainly need a liner to  have even coverage. My favorites were Milano, Hollywood, and Miami (red, copper, hot pink). These shades offered an almost liquid lipstick type opacity without the flaws of the first three shades. I still recommenda liner for longer wear. I was able to wear these for 1-3 hours before fading – so don’t expect long wear. The scent/taste is slightly unpleasant and I’m not sure I’d reach for these too often due to that. It’s like the scent of a lipstick about to go bad. It’s not too overpowering and it does go away after application- but for the price point and the brand – I didn’t expect this.

Brush It Off

This collection also featured Bear tipped brushes. These brushes were a nice weight; the weight I expected to feel with the palette. These brushes very sturdy in the hand and the  Bear tips were quite cute. These may be hard to store if you are used to storing your brushes end side down. These are best to store laying down.  The bristles overall were smooth and blended product well, but I felt the face brush didn’t pick up enough powder product. Other than that, these brushes a perfect for a collector or just someone who appreciates cute packaging.

Screen Shot 2017-09-03 at 10.59.57 PM.png

Thats a Bear-y Nice Glow

For those who love a compact, the Moschino x Sephora collection also featured a Highlight housed in a bear faced compact. This felt the same as the palette in terms of weight, 24k gold plated plastic. The shades included were a light champagne and a soft blush named Uptown and Downtown. I liked applying these over cream or moist for an intense highlight. For a more subtle glow apply dry with a fluffy brush. I personally like layering them for a softer peachy shade.

Screen Shot 2017-09-03 at 11.00.11 PM.png

The Traditionalist

For the minimalist and the traditionalist, there is something for you in this collection! The Moschino Shopping Bag Shadow Palette. When I friar saw this palette on the site, I was sure it was a part of a past collaboration. It seemed so out of place until I realized – if you’re shopping for Moschino products that are obviously not toys, you will need a Moschino bag to put them all on. The practicality of this still novel but more functional design became perfectly clear.

Screen Shot 2017-09-03 at 11.00.28 PM.png

This palette is small in that it can fit in the palm of your hand. It is sleek in terms of simple. It has a magnetic closure and is simple to store and carry. The shades are warm and will probably suit most, if not all skin tones. The theme is very marsala, just as there was a large marsala component in the Bear Eyeshadow Palette (three shades almostnearly identical). There are enough shades in this palette to create a neutral everyday look, a dramatic look, or even a full on glam.

Reunited and It Feels So Good…

In The Beginning

If you sang that as you read it, you’re good people in my book. Even if you didn’t get my reference to slow jams of the past, the message remains the same, it feels great to be back. I began blogging sometime around 2011/2012. My blog was birthed out of my rather intense compulsion to let it be known when I am displeased. Sure, that sounds a bit narcissistic, but it isn’t without altruistic purpose. My goal was to help consumers make informed decisions about the beauty products they may want to purchase.

2017 – Makeup skills on point

There was a time when the internet wasn’t absolutely  saturated with beauty bloggers and vloggers. There were two main sites that would always pop up when searching for reviews, the very informative, but always in the perfect lighting, Temptlaia and the, I can’t see anything you’ve put on your face, Musing of a Muse. Of course on youtube we had Michelle Phan. These were the big league pages as most of the Vloggers and Bloggers you may love today were just getting started or had not even begun. This left a bit of a void where consumers had to trust these chosen few or the advertiser. Let us also consider that advertisers don’t always give a clear idea of how a product will work. I don’t exactly mean the use of photoshop but also the skill involved.

2012 – Not so on point

The average consumer for beauty products at the drugstore isn’t your local MUA, she is your 13 year old neighbor just beginning to explore, the mom looking for some mascara to glam up her routine, or even the cash strapped college student in search of a new lip shade for her hot date. These are the average consumer, or at least were until the boom and rise of the beauty content creator. The skill involved to achieve the perfect glossy lip or chiseled contour sometimes takes years of practice and dedication. So, of course you won’t be able to achieve the perfection shown in print and video advertisements. You may be left in a haze of disappointment, but has the product actually failed you? Or have you failed the product?

Everyone Can Do It!

With the rise of the content creator also came the rise of the tutorial. Now, the fresh faced teen, the mom, and the student had eager creators ready to teach them all the skills they needed. The average consumer could now achieve, or try to achieve, the look of perfection that they were sold with the product. Purchasing would then become dictated more by what the influencers used and less about traditional advertisements. The beauty industry took notice and began to work directly with “Guru’s”, “Influencers”, and “Content Creators”  to advertise in a new and less traditional manner, hence the birth and rise of the creator.

Michelle Phan- The OG

Every girl could simply watch a few tutorials and start creating her own. After all, who doesn’t want to be internet famous? This was something I never really cared much about. Even before this emergence, I was blogging about how Covergirl Blast Flip Lipstick was a total flop and making little pictorials for products like Rimmel London Glam Eyes HD.  And while I watched the small vlogs and blogs I used to love grow into mega stars, my original blog never officially took off. I blame this partly for the low photo quality and partly for the fact that I hadn’t officially discovered tweezers. I had a mustache and Helga brow in every picture that involved my face. I never took myself or blogging too seriously… until I discovered the joy of vlogging.

I officially began my youtube around 2008 as a comedy page that mostly featured my friends and our wacky adventures. Around the end of 2012, with some urging from my followers, I began to vlog officially. With zero equipment and editing software paired with my shy nature, the quality is exactly what you would expect. Surprisingly these first videos have amassed more views than anything else I have ever vlogged about. I like to think that’s because people love watching a train wreck.

I signed up for instagram around the end of 2012 and to be honest I didn’t understand its purpose nor did I find it relevant. It was like hipster Twitter for pictures. How much does one Hipster weigh? One Insta-gram. Ha! In hindsight the hipsters were on to something major. Instagram had become my main platform and allowed me to share mini informative reviews and swatches and YouTube allowed me to go in depth about product performance. I had all but abandoned my blog until my first official NYFW invite arrived in my email. My blog was about to completely transform.

Is It Washable?

I haven’t always loved fashion. Growing up Plus Size, even in New York City – the capital of fashion, there weren’t many options. My grandmother would take me to stores like Lane Bryant and The Avenue sometimes even The Gap. I wanted to wear rebellious cyber goth clothing and live in hot topic however, even if I did desire a more mainstream look, plain T shirts, Jeans, and hoodies were about as stylish as I was able to get due to limited options. It was a bit demoralizing.

If you’ve never been a plus size, teen girl, shopping at the mall with her thinner friends, then you don’t know the struggle of the sock and jewelry corner. For the plus size teen of the 90’s and early 2000’s, mall shopping meant hopping from store to store only to be able to fit the accessories, while your piers flip through endless isles of the newest styles. Occasionally, there would be a store with a plus size section. This section was often hidden in the back and require a walk of shame to reach it. This is where fashion goes to die. Shapeless, plain, and trend devoid. The mantra used to be, if you are plus size, you don’t want to show off.

Mixing Patterns – Plus size girls can do it too.

Clothing options for the plus size woman have vastly improved in last 20 years, but with every step forward there have been some serious steps back. I addressed this often in my prior blog. It became a main focus of mine to address issues and also show off style for plus size options. I focused on a plus size trends like the “Fatkini”,  clothing that was labeled un-washable, and finally I merged fashion with beauty. ‘

Starting Anew

This is where my prior blog concluded and it is where I want to pick up. This blog will serve as a supplemental source of information on all that is fashion and beauty. In depth reviews on beauty and fashion, and even NYFW coverage will be found here! I look forward to sharing my thoughts with you all, and thank you for coming on this new adventure with me!
